Rougui is both the name of a popular cultivar in the Wuyi Mountains and the tea that is produced from that cultivar. Our Wuyi Rougui is a kind of Oolong tea first developed during the Qing dynasty, and is also one of famous tea of Wuyi Rock tea, famous for its aroma and taste resembling cinnamon.
Wuyi Rougui is harvested four times per year. It is done in sunny days. When the top shoots grow up, pick 2 to 3 leaves. The tea is produced through withering, fixation, rolling and baking.
The tea can be difficult to prepare, but is highly welcomed by people with its aroma. More importantly, its distinctive sweet aroma can be brought out up to 7 steepings.
This tea may be traditionally processed producing a dark dry leaf and a rich smell or processed according to new consumer standards, giving it a leaf of mixed color and a more fruity aroma. Wuyi Rougui is a top tea of the fragrant varieties with great "rock essence" and stands out from Oolong tea because of its unique scent.
