Jiu Qu Hong Mei (Red Plum) Black Tea, also known as "Jiu Qu Black Tea", "Jiu Qu Oolong" and "Longjing Black Tea", is one of the famous historical teas in West Lake District. The tea is curled and tight, shaped like fish hooks. Its tea infusion is red in color and is as fragrant as red plums, hence the name Jiu Qu Hong Mei (Red Plum) Black Tea. It originates from Jiuqu Stream (Nine Bends Stream) of Wuyi Mountain. Farmers in north Fujian and south Zhejiang migrated northward, later settled in the area of Dawu Mountain and opened up wasteland for grain and tea so as to make a living. That is when Jiu Qu Hong Mei (Red Plum) Black Tea is produced, which greatly promoted the production of local farmers.
